Catalytic Reactors
In addition to the micro-batch reactor associated with the transmission IR cell, we have two reactors fully dedicated to the measurement of kinetics for catalytic reactions using high surface area powders. A second micro-batch reactor is made in a similar fashion as the one described above. It is also based on a stainless-steel loop connected to a recirculation pump for continuous gas mixing, a vacuum gauge for gas pressure measurements, a gas inlet manifold, and a gas chromatograph for gas analysis. A flow reactor has also been recently added to our laboratory, also equipped with gas chromatography detection. Detachable glass U-tubes with appropriate heaters are used in both cases to hold the catalytic samples.
